2011 Boston Portsmouth Air Show
The dust has settled (I had a quick 3-day business trip to Seattle last week), and I’ve found the time to report on the 2011 Boston Portsmouth Air Show.
The weather held out and allowed for almost unlimited flying – although it poured rain some 3 hours after the show ended Sunday evening! I went on a New Hampshire Air National Guard KC-135 refuel trip on the Thursday prior to the show, to collect info for a pair of upcoming articles (plus a quick posting to get the word out about the upcoming show) and refuel the Thunderbirds twice to help them arrive at our show. Then I helped run the Media Area and Photo Pit the rest of the weekend… meeting some interesting and friendly people along the way. I met up with some friends that I hadn’t seen for a while too! My photo time was limited, but I still shot just over 1,000 frames. Good times were had by all. It was a safe, and I thought well-balanced show with almost 5 hours of flying and 25+ static aircraft on display.
Next year’s show is a bit earlier than this year’s (June 30th and July 1st, 2012) due to the Blue Angels’ Boston/Tall Ships/July 4th performance in the area (we have them next year at Pease). Can’t wait!
