MCAS Yuma Airshow 2012
The MCAS Yuma played out a little different from the original way I was planning on doing the show. The weather people in San Diego had been predicting a large winter storm to hit Southern California with lots of rain, snow, and major winds, on the weekend for the schedule Yuma 2012 Airshow. I started to think that the show may be affected by the approaching storm.
I had planned ... Read More

El Centro Air Show 2012 in Review
The smell of jet fuel still lingers in the air at NAS El Centro following the conclusion of the first major air show of 2012. The first show brought delight to many after what had been a difficult off season that focused more on teams cutting back rather than building up budgets. The air show austerity forced the shutdown of most of the Air Force singe ship demo teams ... Read More

El Centro Airshow 2012 – Far, Hot, Dirty, and Awesome
NAF El Centro is just about in the middle of nowhere, it is always hot, and there are no permanently stationed squadrons. Having said all that, the El Centro drew a huge crowd and had top notch performances; not to mention the El Centro plays host to the Blue Angels’ season opener.
The aircraft on static display were interesting and varied; this is one of the few places I can ... Read More

Blue Angels 2011
Every year 11,000,000 people look into the skies at airshows and see six blue and gold F-18s performing precision aerobatics representing the best the United States as well as the Navy and Marines have to offer. The Blue Angels have been doing this since June 15, 1946 and have been doing it well.
The Team consists of 16 Officers and 110 Enlisted men and women from the Navy and the ... Read More

Air Combat Command to cut demo teams??
ACC statement about reduction of single-ship demo teams in 2012
We face significant fiscal constraints and are making tough decisions about the
best ways to continue providing combat airpower to warfighting commanders, which is
what we do as the Air Force’s primary force provider.
One decision we’ve made is to sponsor one single-ship demonstration team for
the 2012 air show season, scaling back from the six teams we’ve historically sponsored
– A-10 East & West, ... Read More

Homecoming in Pensacola
The 2011 Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow was held under bright skies and cool conditions on the Friday and Saturday of Veteran's Day weekend. The marquee flying act, as always, was the Blue Angels. Their homecoming late in the year signals the traditional end to the North American air show season, and the finale to their grueling schedule containing close to 70 aerial performances. Beyond the Blue Angels there was ... Read More
2011 Alliance Air Show Review
PhotoRecon.Net recently attended the 2011 Alliance Air Show located down in Ft. Worth Texas. The event is held at the Alliance Ft. Worth airport about 15 miles West of Dallas.
The show, which was estimated as bringing in a crowd of around 100,000 people over the two-day event, was cut in half after a thunderstorm came through Saturday night and dumped about a inch of rain that turned the grass ... Read More

Holloman AFB Open House 2011
On October 8, 2011, Photorecon had the opportunity to attend the 2011 Holloman AFB open house, the Legacy of Liberty air show. Any air show at Holloman AFB holds a special place in my heart. As a young man growing up in central New Mexico, Holloman AFB was the first air show I attended; the early trips out to the Base fostered a lifelong interest in aviation that developed ... Read More

Photorecon Visits with F-15E Strike Eagle Demo Team
The F-15E Strike Eagle Demo Team was performing at the Alliance Air Show in Fort Worth, Texas over the weekend and our own Brandon Farris was there to record the event.
We had worked in the past with the flight crew after the Chino Air Show back in May. The Demo Team had put on quite a show in the semi-humid coastal region of Southern California and the jet was ... Read More

Hawk AJTS BAE Systems’ National Road Show UPDATED 10-23-11
While attending the Holloman Air Force Base Open House and Air Show this weekend (October 8th), I had the opportunity to meet and chat with the staff of BAE Systems HAWK AJTS National Road Show. The purpose of the road show is to demonstrate and showcase the capabilities and cost effectiveness of the Hawk aircraft and family of systems. The Hawk AJTS brings 5th generation sensor and information management skills needed by future U.S. ... Read More
My “Fini” Flight on Fat Albert Airlines
When I was informed by the Blue Angels PAO that I was selected to fly on Fat Albert during their show at Miramar, I was more than overjoyed. I was bouncing off the walls. To be honest, the few people I did tell about being selected seemed unimpressed but I knew the truth. I knew the wild ride that was ahead of me, because I trained for it, practiced ... Read More
2011 Patuxent River Air Expo
During the two weeks that preceded the 2011 NAS Patuxent River Air Expo, southern Maryland endured the rattle of an earthquake and the rain and winds of Hurricane Irene. Definitely not good air show weather! The two-day (Saturday and Sunday) Labor Day weekend air show went on as planned though, with only a few downed trees and departing convoys of electric service trucks serving as reminders of the power ... 2011 Boston Portsmouth Air Show
The dust has settled (I had a quick 3-day business trip to Seattle last week), and I've found the time to report on the 2011 Boston Portsmouth Air Show.
The weather held out and allowed for almost unlimited flying - although it poured rain some 3 hours after the show ended Sunday evening! I went on a New Hampshire Air National Guard KC-135 refuel trip on the Thursday prior to ... Read More
A Visit to Valiant Air Command
Vacations are to unwind and relax; nothing can relax me more than being in the company of great people and historic aircraft. This is why I always perform an online search for any museums and airfields in the area I will be visiting. With a family vacation to Florida planned for the last week of June 2011. I started my search and soon found the Valiant Air Command in ... Read More
