Remembering the Doolittle Raid

One week and seventy-nine years ago, a formation of U.S. Army Air Force North American B-25 Mitchell bombers launched off of the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Hornet to deliver a counter-attack against Imperial Japanese Forces. (The formation above was a salute to the handful of the remaining Doolittle Raiders at the Air Force Museum in 2012)

We are without any surviving mission crew members this year, as Lt. Col. Richard Cole, the oldest surviving mission crew member, passed away 2 years ago.

We offer this salute to all of the servicemen who participated in the mission with seventy-nine photos of B-25 bombers (plus the cover photo), here on our pages.
