Another EAA AirVenture has come and gone, and it’s time to take stock of what we saw. There were headlines, and behind-the-scenes stories that made splashes across social media sites and web sites around the world. Rather than reiterate old news, we thought we’d like to just show some photos from the huge event, and let you enjoy the rich collection of aircraft that reflected aviation heritage around the world.

From centennial celebrations of Boeing and the U.S. Coast Guard Aviation to special anniversaries of various first flights and service introductions, this year had many special themes. There were probable swan songs too, like that of the pair of McDonnell Douglas/Boeing F-4 Phantoms, and maybe even the Martin Mars from Coulson Flying Tankers. Here’s a short but sweet look from five Photorecon photographers at what we saw at the world’s largest fly-in.

Assignment and Content Editor, writer and photographer A New Englander all of my life, I've lived in New Hampshire since 1981. My passion for all things aviation began at a very early age, and I coupled this with my interest of photography during college in the late 1970s. I spent 35 years in the air traffic control industry, and concurrently, enjoyed my aviation photography and writing adventures, which continue today. I've been quite fortunate to have been mentored by some generous and gifted individuals. I enjoy contributing to this great site and working with some very knowledgeable and equally passionate aviation followers.
