Spain’s Museum of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Cuartro-Vientos Air Base in Madrid Spain houses a diverse collection of Spanish and European aircraft in a well-thought-out series of display halls and grounds. Spain’s military aviation history officially began in 1913 but has roots back to the decade before that. The museum houses much of its’ collection within buildings that are safe from most adverse weather elements. Larger and more robust aircraft are on display adjacent to the halls. Many other aircraft, including European designs and non-Spanish operators, are displayed too. Close to 200 aircraft in total are in this collection.
