“The Wild Weasels at 60”

“The Wild Weasels at 60” refers to the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force’s specialized Wild Weasel mission, dedicated to Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD), which began in 1965. With modified F-100F Super Sabres hunting Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs) in Vietnam, a mission that continues today with advanced aircraft like the F-16CJ and F-35, celebrating its legacy of “first in, last out” tactics. As the SEAD mission and community celebrates its 60th anniversary, the 20th Fighter Wing continues to carry out the Wild Weasel legacy of innovation, selflessness and courage. Now and in the future, Weasel Airmen will continue to ensure the United States Air Force’s ability to establish air dominance and fly, fight and win, whenever and wherever called to do so. This legacy is built on courage, innovation, and an unyielding commitment to winning the fight. Today we honor the legacy, the evolution, and the Airmen who continue to carry the Wild Weasel spirit forward.
The motto of the Wild Weasels remains “YGBSM” (You Gotta Be S***tin’ Me), famously uttered by the first Weasels when they learned of their dangerous mission to intentionally draw enemy fire.
My take on the patch….
