Photo Report of VMFA –232 “Red Devils” Visit Goodyear Airport
Story and Photos by William Ellison
May 16th, 2025, 4 F/A-18’s from VMFA-232 roared over the City of Goodyear to land at Goodyear Airport to participate in some weekend training over the eastern Arizona MOA’s. This was a very rare treat and surprise for the local photographers including myself as Goodyear does not get much military traffic. The Red Devils flew 2 sorties a day with a total of 4 F/A-18 Hornet’s working in the OUTLAW MOA’s and JACKAL MOAs with the support of an Omega refueling tanker from March AFB in California and before returning home to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California on Sunday.
Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232 (VMFA-232) is a United States Marine Corps F/A-18 Hornet squadron. Nicknamed the “Red Devils”, the squadron is based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California and falls under the command of Marine Aircraft Group 11 (MAG-11) and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3rd MAW). The Red Devils are the second oldest and most decorated fighter squadron in the Marine Corps.
