Thirty-Four Vintage Aircraft on the AirVenture Fields in 2025

1929 CURTISS ROBIN

Photos and story by Ken Kula

The above photo is of a restored 1929 Curtiss Robin, one of the oldest aircraft on the 2025 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh grounds. There were plenty of fifty-plus year-old aircraft in attendance, in fact the first four photos in this scrapbook are of aircraft built in 1929 – that’s ninety-six years ago! Some of the classic airplanes were museum pieces, part of the EAA’s Air Museum located in Oshkosh. Many others flew in on their own engines’ power.

If you spend just part of a day in Oshkosh during the Convention, you can absorb quite an aviation history lesson by just roaming about the assembled vintage and antique aircraft. How well do you know your types? Here are 34 different models shown oldest to youngest, plus a bonus manufacturer’s signature scrapbook at the end. Good luck with your IDs… we’ll label them for you in case you need to brush up.

Assignment and Content Editor, writer and photographer. A New Englander all of my life, I've lived in New Hampshire since 1981. My passion for all things aviation began at a very early age, and I coupled this with my interest of photography during college in the late 1970s. I've spent 35 years in the air traffic control industry, and concurrently, enjoyed many aviation photography and writing adventures, which continue today. I've been quite fortunate to have been mentored by some generous and gifted individuals. I enjoy contributing to this great site and working with some very knowledgeable and equally passionate aviation photojournalists.
