The skies over San Diego once again became the stage for one of the nation’s most spectacular celebrations of military aviation as the 2026 Miramar Air Show returned to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. With the United States celebrating its 250th anniversary, this year’s event carried an added sense of history, bringing together military aircraft, aviation technology, precision demonstration teams and thousands of aviation enthusiasts for three days of high-powered action. At the center of the weekend was the unmistakable sound and sight of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, whose precision flight demonstration served as the headlining flight demonstration of the airshow.

The 2026 Miramar Air Show, presented as America’s Air Show, featured military and civilian performers, static aircraft displays and demonstrations highlighting the capabilities of today’s armed forces. The lineup included the Blue Angels and Fat Albert, the U.S. Marine Corps F-35B demonstration, the Marine Air-Ground Task Force demonstration, the MV-22 Osprey, the RAF Falcons and a variety of civilian aerobatic performers. Flying the F/A-18 Super Hornet, the Navy’s demonstration team showcased the precision, discipline and coordination that has defined the Blue Angels for eight decades. The team’s 2026 season marked the 80th anniversary of the Blue Angels, adding another historic milestone to an already significant year. Eight decades of demonstrations have made the Blue Angels one of the most recognizable symbols of American military aviation. The anniversary also coincided with the 250th birthday of the United States. That combination gave the Miramar performance an unmistakable historical backdrop.

Although the Blue Angels were a major attraction, the 2026 Miramar Air Show offered considerably more.

The U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II demonstrated the capabilities of the Marine Corps’ fifth-generation fighter, while the MV-22 Osprey showcased the unique tiltrotor technology that allows the aircraft to transition between helicopter-like vertical flight and airplane-style forward flight. The Marine Corps’ Marine Air-Ground Task Force demonstration brought the battlefield to the flight line, combining aircraft, ground forces, pyrotechnics and simulated tactical operations. The demonstration was designed to give spectators a look at the coordination involved in Marine Corps combined-arms operations.

Adding an international element was the Royal Air Force Falcons Parachute Team, while civilian performers including Vicky Benzing, Emma McDonald and Ed Hamill brought aerobatic aircraft and classic warbird aviation to the show.

The 2026 Miramar Air Show also became part of the broader national celebration surrounding America’s 250th anniversary. The show’s official theme emphasized American aviation, innovation and military heritage while bringing modern aircraft together with historic and civilian performers.
