A Review of the 2018 MacDill AirFest

Tampa Florida’s MacDill AFB held the AirFest 2018 amid warm and somewhat hazy conditions during mid-May. A wide variety of military and civilian-owned aircraft were on display, from the cutting edge F-22 Raptor to the expendable QF-16 Full Sized Aerial Target – a moderately-used F-16 Fighting Falcon fitted with remote controls and painted with bright orange panels for fast identification in the air.
On the other side of the spectrum, the Good Year Tire and Rubber Company displayed their German Zepplin-manufactured airship. A large display of manned and unmanned aircraft filled the parking ramp.
