Singapore Eagles at DMAFB
Written By Wally “RIP” Van Winkle
While the weather did not cooperate as well as it could have, the opportunity to visit with and photograph the Singapore Air Force F-15SGs at Davis-Monthan AFB was not worth passing up. The ten Eagles spent the month of July 2015 on the Snowbird ramp at DMAFB while the runway at Mountain Home Air Force Base, ID is undergoing much needed repairs. The media event scheduled by the 355th Public Affairs office and hosted by 1Lt. Ranawerra on July 22nd provided nine photographers and KGUN Channel 9 of Tucson with an hour of ramp time while eight of the F-15SGs taxied out of the Snowbird shelters. ME4 Elangovan, Command Chief for Peace Carvin V was our Singapore host and was extremely gracious and informative. The 428th FS Eagles will depart Davis-Monthan AFB on 31 July however, they will not be immediately returning to Mountain Home AFB. Instead, the squadron will share the Air National Guard ramp at Boise International Airport for at least one more week before the runway repairs are completed at Mountain Home.
