The 2020 Bell Fort Worth Alliance Airshow
The Bell Fort Worth Alliance Airshow celebrated its 30th year anniversary over the weekend of October 17th and 18th. With most airshows being cancelled at the beginning of the airshow season due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Bell Fort Worth Alliance put on North Texas’ first drive in airshow. With social distancing standards and additional health and safety protocols in place, airshow fans were able to view the airshow in the comfort of their own vehicles. Each vehicle was appropriately separated, with one space for the vehicle and the adjoining space for guests to sit safely and picnic, for a successful sold out airshow experience. The drive-in experience did not include static displays, exhibitors, kids’ inflatables, or paid seating areas this year.
Awarded first place for Best Air Show in the 2020 USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, Bell Fort Worth Alliance put together a great line up. The 30th anniversary air show featured the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. The event also featured Michael Goulian, the A-10 Demo team, the F-22 Raptor Demo team, the F-35 Demo team and the C-17 Demo Team.
One of the highlights of the Air Show was the Air Force Heritage Flight. These Heritage Flight performances feature modern fighter and attack aircraft such as the A-10, the F-22, and the F-35 flying alongside World War II, Korean and Vietnam era planes like the P-51 Mustang in a dramatic display of our nation’s air power history.
Heritage Flights are flown at events ranging from open houses and air shows to sporting events and parades. Since its inception in 1997, The Heritage Flight Program has supported hundreds of events and touched millions of people. These formations serve as a living memorial to the men and women who have served or are currently serving in the USAF.
The featured act at the Fort Worth Alliance Airshow was the United States Air Force Thunderbirds. During the airshow, fans noticed the Thunderbirds were flying a 5 jet formation. Thunderbird # 3, right wing, Major Michael Brewer remained home with his wife for the birth of their son. Congratulations to Major Brewer and his family on your newest edition. The Thunderbirds will finish a few more shows for this short air show season, then begin focusing on the 2021 air show season. The 2020 Thunderbird pilots will all be returning for the 2021 season, due to a very short 2020 air show season.
